History of the AML MUN

AML MUN is the Model United Nations conference organized by Anavryta Model Lyceum in Athens, Greece.

The first AML MUN took place in March 2018 and was a major step for Model UN conferences in Greece. It was the first one ever created and run entirely by a public high school, aiming to make the MUN experience accessible to more students across the country, regardless of their background.

Following the success of the first AML MUN, two more conferences took place in 2019 and 2020 respectively, further establishing AML MUN as a platform where students could engage in diplomacy, debate, and global issues. These two conferences were also a great success, drawing many students across Greece. The 4th Conference was originally scheduled for 2021, but it got canceled, due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.

After the COVID-19 crisis worldwide came to a close, efforts were made to restore the AML MUN conference. After a hiatus of more than 5 years, the AML MUN returned, with the 4th AML MUN conference being held on 22-23 November 2025, with more than 400 students from all over Attica participating, improved technological infrastructure and a huge personnel of students and teachers working tirelessly to prepare and maintain it.

Now, the 5th AML MUN conference is scheduled to be held on 27-29 November, now extended to 3 days, with students outside Greece participating and a larger technological infrastructure.
